Test joining on the intended accounts, devices and market, then measure attendance and qualified opportunities. Fewer steps are a hypothesis to evaluate.
Feature details come from Meta’s 14 October 2026 announcement. Applications and measurement plans are CROMBA recommendations. Google and Outlook Calendar integrations were announced for later; local availability needs checking.
What did Meta announce?
On 14 October 2026, Meta announced that people can be invited to WhatsApp calls without having an account. A host creates the link using their account; guests open it in a computer browser, enter their name and await approval. The announcement covers individual and group calls with up to 32 participants, screen sharing, reactions and raising a hand. [1]
Guests cannot see participants’ phone numbers, send messages or directly add other people. Meta announced Google and Outlook Calendar integrations for later this year; they should not be presented as currently available steps.
- The host opens the Calls tab, selects the plus icon and creates a call link.
- The host sends the link; the guest opens it in a computer browser and enters their name.
- The guest waits until the host approves entry.
Where might it help businesses?
We suggest testing the approach for a short introductory meeting, service demonstration or course information session. The hypothesis is that reducing joining steps could help some clients attend. That is a testable proposition, not a commercial outcome established by the announcement.
For example, a training provider could test the link with a small group of interested prospects, explain how to join and set expectations about timing. The best meeting tool still depends on the features required and what the audience finds easy to use.
Test joining before sending invitations
Create a test link and join from a computer without using a WhatsApp account. Review the waiting room, responsibility for admitting guests, audio, video and screen sharing. Test what late arrivals see and how they can contact your team when something fails.
The announcement does not provide a detailed country or account list. Check availability and operation on the intended accounts, devices and market, including Turkey and Arab markets, before adding it to public booking flows. Keep a clear alternative joining method.
When placing the link on a booking page, check the next step and device experience. See our landing-page review guide.
How can you tell whether it helped?
Record booked meetings, attendance and joining problems, then meetings that lead to a next sales step. Divide attended meetings by booked meetings in the same group to calculate attendance. Define how cancellations and rescheduling are counted.
Compare with a recent period or similar group while keeping reminders, timing and prospect types as consistent as possible. If those factors change alongside the meeting tool, improvement cannot be attributed to the link alone. Reminders, meeting expectations or lead quality might be the main issue.
See our GA4 lead measurement guide to connect enquiries to their source, then complete attendance and qualification data in your sales records. Website data alone does not tell you who attended.
The link is part of a complete journey
Before the meeting, clients need to know its purpose, duration and who they will meet. Afterwards they need a clear next step. A simpler call works best when these details align. Buying a customer-service platform or connecting WhatsApp to a sales system is a separate decision with different requirements; guest calling does not establish new business integrations or automation.
Start with a limited test and review absences and joining problems before wider adoption. CROMBA can help review the enquiry-to-meeting journey and identify friction.
If distributing messages and connecting them to sales is the problem, read when your business needs WhatsApp Business Platform rather than the app.
